Cheb Khaled at the Festival International de Carthage
Algerian raï pioneer Cheb Khaled headlines the 60th Festival International de Carthage at the Théâtre Antique de Carthage on Saturday 18 July at 22:00, marking his first appearance at the ancient venue since 2016.
Cheb Khaled takes the stage at the Théâtre Antique de Carthage on Saturday 18 July at 22:00, returning to the festival for the first time in a decade as part of the 60th anniversary edition of the Festival International de Carthage (FIC).
The Algerian artist is the figure most closely identified with raï's rise from an Oran street form to an internationally recognised genre. His catalogue — spanning hits such as Didi, Aïcha and Wahrane Wahrane — runs to more than three decades of recording. The Carthage concert is scheduled to run approximately two hours.
The 60th edition programme also includes, among other marquee acts, Sami Yusuf (1 August) and Saber Rebaï (16 July), making this anniversary year one of the festival's most wide-ranging in recent memory.
