Orchestre du Bal de l'Opéra de Vienne returns to El Jem for its 28th consecutive appearance

The Orchestre du Bal de l'Opéra de Vienne takes the stage at the Roman amphitheatre of El Jem on Saturday 1 August at 22:00, as part of the 39th International Festival of Symphonic Music. No ensemble invited to the festival has appeared more times: this is the orchestra's 28th consecutive participation, a record that reflects a sustained Austria–Tunisia cultural partnership stretching back decades.
The orchestra draws its repertoire from the Johann Strauss tradition and the grand operatic heritage of the Vienna State Opera ball — waltzes, polkas and overtures performed under the open sky of a UNESCO-listed Roman amphitheatre. The performance runs approximately two hours.
