Salif Keïta at the Festival International de Hammamet — the Golden Voice of Africa at the 60th edition
Malian legend Salif Keïta brings his singular blend of Mande griot tradition, jazz and Afropop to the open-air amphitheatre of Hammamet's Centre Culturel International on Friday 31 July, as the 60th Festival International de Hammamet marks its anniversary with artists from 12 countries.

Keïta is one of the defining figures of African world music. Born into Malian royalty — a descendant of the founder of the Mali Empire — he was excluded from his community because of his albinism and turned to music at a time when singing was considered beneath his lineage. He built a career that spans decades, rooting his sound in the Mande griot tradition before expanding it with jazz harmonies and Afropop arrangements. He represents Mali on a programme that brings together artists from Tunisia, Lebanon, Palestine, the United States, Spain, Portugal, Cuba, Turkey, Morocco, Algeria and Italy — 32 performances in all across the five-week festival.
