Tunis sur Seine returns to Paris for a sixth edition of alternative Arab and Mediterranean music

Tunis sur Seine returns to the Paris area on Saturday 4 July for its sixth annual edition, bringing eight concerts of alternative Arab and Mediterranean music to Le Point Fort in Aubervilliers from 16h30.

Now in its sixth year, Tunis sur Seine forms part of the Mediterranean Season and brings a warm, diverse breeze from the shores of the South and East, and from their diasporas. The festival explores an alternative, electric and vibrant Mediterranean — a mosaic of sounds blending reimagined traditions with contemporary experimentation, where tarab engages with electro, rock takes on southern accents, and hip-hop absorbs new textures.

The programme spans eight concerts across two stages — the Halle and the Chapiteau — with a line-up of Emp1re (rap, Tunisia), Mounir Troudi featuring Zied Zouari (Tunisian rock, Tunisia), Otat (rap, Morocco), Rust (electro tarab, Lebanon-Syria), Temenik Electric (Arabian rock, France-Algeria), Aza (alt-pop, Tunisia), Sarah Bel (indie pop, Tunisia) and Shahzen (percussive traditional-club, France-Algeria).

Mounir Troudi, born in 1968, is a jazz and Sufi music singer from Tunisia who grew up in Tunis, received his diploma in Arabic music in 1998, and made his debut with Fadhel Jaziri and the show Hadhra in 1994. His work fuses traditional Tunisian musical elements with modern jazz, world music and experimental sounds, and he has garnered recognition for his innovative approach to vocal performance and composition.

Tunis sur Seine was founded on a simple premise: to give Arabic contemporary music — Maghreb pop, hip-hop arabe, Tunisian R&B, indie pop, neo-soul — a platform in France, carried by a new generation of artists, often from the diaspora, who are reinventing Arab music through multiple influences.

The venue

Le Point Fort d'Aubervilliers is a cultural venue dedicated to the creation, production, diffusion and mediation of world and traditional music and dance. Supported by the association Villes des Musiques du Monde, it holds a "Scène conventionnée d'intérêt national Musiques & Danses du Monde" label from the French Ministry of Culture. Every year the space welcomes over 250 artists, 160 events and 60,000 spectators.

The venue combines an enclosed big top and a large 1,500m² open hall, welcoming a varied audience from Aubervilliers, Paris, the Greater Paris area and beyond. It is located at 174 avenue Jean Jaurès, 93300 Aubervilliers, with Metro line 7 stopping at Fort d'Aubervilliers.

Beyond the concerts

Alongside the music, the Point Fort will be transformed into a friendly, open and intergenerational space, with stalls run by local artists, food trucks serving Middle Eastern and Mediterranean cuisine, and areas for play, relaxation and socialising — a festival designed for families and children.
