Weather forecast for Monday 6 July: clear skies and summer heat nationwide
Tunisia wakes to clear skies and warm temperatures on Monday, with the heat building sharply across the interior and south through the afternoon as light to moderate north-easterly breezes keep coastal areas more comfortable.
Monday 6 July brings settled, sunny conditions across Tunisia, with no rain expected anywhere in the country and clear skies dominating from the coast to the deep south.
In Tunis, temperatures are expected to rise to around 33C around midday before easing gradually to around 32C by mid-afternoon, 29C by early evening and around 26C after dark. Light north-easterly winds of up to around 15 km/h will keep conditions on the coast broadly comfortable.
Along the east coast, Sousse should reach around 31C in the mid-to-late afternoon, with skies remaining clear throughout the day. North-easterly breezes there will stay light at up to around 11 km/h.
The hottest conditions will be felt inland and to the south. Kairouan could reach around 36C in the early afternoon, with easterly winds of up to around 16 km/h. Tozeur also looks set to reach around 36C, with that peak holding through the late afternoon and into early evening; south-easterly winds there could gust to around 24 km/h, the strongest in the country today.
Djerba will see some cloud cover in the morning, clearing through the afternoon to a peak of around 30C, with light north-easterly winds.
Sea conditions are forecast to remain slight on both the Gulf of Tunis and the Gulf of Hammamet, with wave heights expected to stay well under one metre, keeping conditions very calm along the coast.
