Weather forecast for Thursday 02 July: warm and mostly sunny with cloud building in the south

Thursday 02 July brings warm, largely sunny conditions across most of Tunisia, though cloud is expected to build through the afternoon and evening in the south and along the eastern coast.

In Tunis, temperatures should rise to around 34C by early afternoon before easing to around 29C by early evening and around 25C by night. Skies will be mostly clear through the morning and afternoon, with cloud cover increasing into the evening.

Along the east coast, Sousse could reach around 37C in the mid-afternoon, making it one of the warmer coastal points of the day. Conditions there will be largely clear through the morning before cloud builds from midday onwards.

Inland, Kairouan is forecast to reach around 37C in the mid-afternoon under largely clear morning skies, with some cloud developing later. Tozeur, in the south-west, could be the hottest point in the country, reaching around 39C around 16:00 before a gradual fall through the evening. Cloud cover is expected to increase significantly in Tozeur after sunset, and there is around a 25 percent chance of rain in the area.

Sfax warrants attention on Thursday, with cloud cover forecast to reach around 74 percent in the afternoon and around 84 percent by evening, alongside a rain probability of around 28 percent. Drivers in the area should be prepared for possible showers as the day progresses.

Winds will blow from the north-west in Tunis, Sousse and Kairouan, reaching up to around 24 to 26 km/h in those areas. Bizerte can expect westerly winds of up to around 36 km/h, which will be the strongest in the country on Thursday. Winds in the south will be lighter, from the east in Tozeur and Djerba.

Sea conditions in the Gulf of Hammamet are forecast to remain slight, with wave heights around 0.8 m. The Gulf of Tunis and north coast could see moderate conditions, with wave heights of up to around 1.4 m, which swimmers and small craft operators should keep in mind.
